Under Table Mountain, one of the natural wonders of the world, the M&B Hotel wanted to create an Eco-Hotel in line with the strength and beauty of the African continent. To do this, Lisa Bond was commissioned as the sole design lead for all elements of the refurbishment and reconstruction in the entire Hotel.  

 

The Seasons in Africa brief required that the entire landscape (every room and the underpinnings at the back of house) had to be both sustainably made & sustainably functioning (e.g., telecoms, water-use, cleaning, electricity, air-con, etc.).

 

Lisa used sustainability created and designed elements finding form & functionality uses from Eco-Cork flooring to sustainably sourced and produced cotton bedding, from multi-stage sensor driven air-con to Ecowash washing-powder, from Zero-rated sub-DB energy boards (reducing hotel-wide power use by more than 35%) to the first African hotel using Solar-powered hot-water heaters in every room. 

 

Lisa was able to fulfill these requirements and create a timeless beauty still found in every room of the new hotel group “WINK”.
